Meet Dale
I’m Dale Buchanan, owner and instructor of Supreme Ultimate Fitness. I started out in fitness when I got my first free weight set from Sears in 1979. I started reading bodybuilding books in 1982 joined my first gym and was mentored by a local bodybuilder. The same year I got my first job in a health club. In 1984 I began Tae Kwon do and Hap Ki Do and soon began assisting my master with teaching classes. In 1986 when I got my 1st degree black belt I managed my own martial arts school and working in the gym early mornings training members. In 1992 I started studying Qi Gong, meditation, and T’ai Chi.
In 1995 I decided to make fitness my full time career. That’s when I got my first personal trainer certification with the ISSA, 2nd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, and started an in-home personal training company called Get In Shape, Inc. in the Northern Virginia area. In 1997 I got certified to teach T’ai Chi Chih® and Seijaku (advanced t’ai chi chih) and opened the T’ai Chi Chih® studio in Great Falls, VA which stayed open for 3 years. In 1998 I also got certified from the ISSA in Sports Nutrition and Fitness Therapy (rehabilitative exercise) and took on many local clients helping them with major issues such as arthritis, fibromyalgia, shoulder, back, and knee pain and problems, chronic obesity, hypertension, and other medical concerns. In 1999 I started a full time position at a local gym which soon become my new home for personal training and teaching T’ai Chi Chih.
In 2001 I moved into the city of Washington DC to take a job as a personal trainer and T’ai Chi Chih instructor at Results Gym. Shortly after, my personal training clientele grew so large that I decided to create Small Group Personal Training classes with 4 people per group to take on more clients. For 2 years I had over 60 clients per week and was managing 20 other small groups at the same time. In 2003 I took over the fitness department and in 2005 I won the Manager of the Year award over 30 other managers from Results Gym. In summer of 2006 I left Results Gym and Washington, DC to head down south for a more laid back lifestyle away from the big city. Since then I have worked as a personal trainer, fitness manager, general manager, and sales manager for major health clubs in Virginia, Alabama, and Florida.
In 2008 I decided to start my own fitness company again in Boca Raton, FL. I have totally changed my approach to fitness since my bodybuilding days in the 80′s and 90′s to streamline my workouts into short bursts a few times a week. This is a more effective and efficient way to train and focuses on the core, functional, and total body training. In 2009 I got certified to teach Kettlebells and created Supreme Ultimate Fitness by combining everything I have learned over the past 30 years and put it into one program. What I teach now is a combination of high intensity training modalities such as Kettlebells , Sandbag Fitness Systems, TRX Suspension Training, and body weight exercises. The most unique component that I add to your fitness program is the seemingly simple T’ai Chi Chih movements which I use as an Active Recovery system. Plus they also relax the muscles, heal the body, and clear the mind. Supreme Ultimate Fitness is much more than just how to move your body or lift a weight…what you will learn is embodiment of life for the rest of your life.
What does it take to be an RKC Instructor? Click here to find out. Read every post on that blog. The detail and preperation of training for the RKC is very demanding.
